Editorial Standards
How we research, write, use AI, label demos and correct mistakes.
Accuracy first
Every factual claim in a published investigation must be supported by a source we list. We prefer primary sources: regulators, official statistics, court records, company filings and peer-reviewed research.
We do not fabricate statistics, experts, quotes, endorsements, news events or scandals. Headlines may be provocative; they must never be false.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research organization, drafting, narration, imagery and video production. A person reviews every published piece for accuracy. AI-generated images are illustrative and never presented as documentary photographs of real events or people. Editorial images may contain decorative chart lines or interfaces; these are conceptual artwork, not measured trends, verified financial data or source documents.
Labels you will see
- Demo — a structural example during development. Not fact-checked; not intended as published reporting.
- Research lead — a source we plan to consult, not yet checked against the claims in the text.
- Updated — the article was materially changed after publication; we say what changed.
Independence
We earn money by selling our own digital products. Product recommendations inside articles point to our own tools and are labeled as such. See our Affiliate Disclosure for any third-party relationships.
Corrections
If you believe we got something wrong, email [CORRECTIONS EMAIL] with the article and the issue. We review every request, correct errors promptly, and note significant corrections at the end of the article.
